Romantic Breaks

Sometimes, you're running short on time or holiday days at work, and you can't seem to find the time to plan the ideal holiday, let alone go on it. So how do you keep things romantic, organised enough to avoid any stress, and snappy so you're able to go away for a weekend and have just as good a time as you would had you spent a month abroad?

The key is in the organisation and timing. If you book things well in advance, you can really bring costs down – going away for a weekend isn't going to be as cheap as you might think. Although it seems as though it's two nights rather than, say, five or six, you're still going to pay for plane tickets that might not scale in terms of cost versus time as much as you'd like them to.

However, a weekend away might be the ideal time to also take a peek at engagement rings , as a weekend away means a Saturday night somewhere romantic, and this can be the perfect time to ask your loved one for their hand in marriage. But where to go?

Paris is a little predictable, and you might just clue them in if you're off for a walk to the Eiffel Tower, followed by dinner on a balcony overlooking the iconic Parisian landmark. But somewhere a little different – Madrid, Venice, Berlin – could be your ticket to an unpredictable, exciting and fun two days.

Your main advantage is being there for a short space of time – Saturday will likely be the only full day you'll spend there, from waking up to going to bed – so you can skip the tourism and focus on the romance. Book a horse-drawn carriage in advance, a nice car to shuttle you from and back to the airport, and a romantic lunch, dinner and breakfast. Voila – the ideal romantic weekend break. Enjoy it!
